BUXTON Saturday 30th April 2022
After a difficult night at Kings Lynn we got up early on Sunday morning (24/4/22) and started working on the tarmac car to get it ready for Buxton.
Sunday: Sue sorted the race tool boxes out that were a mess after Saturday evening and Jordan flapped the rust off the discs and took the pads out ready for Sue to scuff up. I was going through other bits on the car and changing gears ready for Buxton. We were sorted and cars swapped around and tarmac car was on the trailer by 6pm.
Thursday evening my brother (pinky) came round and changed my wing colour to white for the first time in 3 years or more, with my help we were finished by 11.45pm! Cheers bro for your help.
Saturday: Set off early for Buxton and got there 3 and a half hours later at 1pm ready for the meeting, we finished the final preparations on the car and collected a set of tyres made up on my rims from Murray and put them on ready for practice. First practice was ok but not 100% so tried a little change and different tyres and went out again, it was good to go. Cheers Dean for your help.
Heat 1. In the front from the start until about 5 laps to go when the fast cars went past, got a 6th place with my first race on tarmac for the 2022 season so happy with that.
Heat 2. Change of tyres and a good race with another 6th place finish.
Final. Change of tyres again and went very well and was pleased with a 7th place finish.
G.N. Another change of tyres and the race was difficult for me but got a respectable 10th place finish and the car was loaded up before 9pm.
Car was going well all night long and really happy with the results. Once again thank you to Sue and Jordan for your help at home as well as at the track, Murray for sorting my tyres and Dean for his help and knowledge. Massive thank you to Colin at THR Autos for your support this year and the tyres you supplied for me were good!!
Front wing sponsors, I will be getting more tyres during the season to keep the cars on track and I thank you all for that.
Time to get the car ready for Skeggy next weekend.
