KINGS LYNN 23rd APRIL 2022
Picked up car from Bruno’s on the morning of the meeting and made our way to Kings Lynn following Ryan Harrison most of the way there but I thought to myself “ I won’t be following him on the track, I will be going strait past him!! ”
Entered the pits a bit late for us but we were nearly ready with just a couple of bits to do and of course have a chat with great people who came round to see us at the car.
Whites and yellows : Was going well but sadly after a few laps the car started to misfire and going round bend 1 and 2 the car wouldn’t pull out of the corner, a bit of a hit from Daz Kitson and my car coasted to a stop on bend 4 ( tractor pushed me to get it started! ) got back to the pits and got some help from Chad and the Evans lads to see what the problems were. An earth wire to the MSD seemed to be the problem but the car still wouldn’t run well. The new carb fitted between Northampton and Kings Lynn seemed to be the problem, changed back to the old carb and it was better but not perfect, didn’t get it fixed in time for the heat but went out in the coni always wondering weather the car was going to keep running or not, as it is I dropped to the back of the pack by the time a yellow flag came out. Car stalled on restart but got ( pushed by a tractor! ) again to get started. Car was handling well but still not running as well as it should, then as the race went on the brakes started to fade and I could see smoke out of the rear of my car, kept a close eye on the oil pressure but as it turns out it wasn’t oil burning but it was the inside rear tyre melting because flames were coming out of the exhaust, the brake calliper was red hot too and that was the reason for no brakes.
We qualified for the final but decision was made to not go out and to try and find out the problem, as yet we have not been able to sort it but we will concentrate on that after Buxton and our first meeting with the tarmac car.
Thank you to team Evans for your help all night long and to Dean who helped too. Sue and Jordan were there to help too as always and I thank them for that and my Bro for feeding the cats.
